Tools and Resources

This Tools and Resources section is for material that can help you as you seek to become more finanically self-reliant.  It includes readings, learning tools, family home evening lessons, teaching aids, and other resources.

Readings. Readings include all the readings recommended on this Web site.  We have received permission from the Church to include many of the Ensign and Conference talks that relate to this material.   The IRS publications are public domain and have also been included here.  We also have included other articles that we have received permission to post.  We will eventually link each reading to the respective Web sites.

Learning Tools.  Learning tools are the items I use in teaching these classes at the Marriott School of Management.  These are for reference only, but they may help teach important concepts and simplify the math in many cases.  While they should be used with caution and conservative estimates, they may be helpful.

Family Home Evening Lessons.  Family home evening lessons have been prepared by students in my BM418: Financial Planning and MBA620: Personal Financial Planning classes.  They were set up to help families teach personal finance topics in as clear and as simple a method as possible.

Personal Finance Manuals.  Manuals are the reference documents for each of the beginning, intermediate, and advanced Courses of Study.  These documents may be freely downloaded for personal, family, and educational use.  The manual for the Complete College Course is the manual I use in teaching my Business Management 418: Financial Planning course and my Master's of Business Administration 620: Personal Financial Planning course.

Teacher Resources.  Teacher resources are examples of what can be done with this website in the college setting.  It includes a copy of my most recent undergraduate business Class Syllabus and Class Schedule and Objectives. It also includes the PowerPoint presentations that I use in those classes.  Some individuals are more visual than others, and these may help visual learners.  For those teaching this material to larger groups, these PowerPoints may be helpful.

Other Internet-based Resources.  Other Internet-based resources  include additional websites that have good information on personal finance.  I particularly emphasize non-profit or government institutions with a mandate to provide personal finance information to the public.

Other Resources.  Other Resources  include additional information and other professor's PowerPoint presentations that I have found helpful in learning about this area.

I hope you enjoy the information and resources available.  I would appreciate your comments to help make this Web site better.
