Courses of Study
Introduction
This Web site is a collection of various topics categorized by education level and ability (beginning, intermediate, and advanced). These are relative terms only and are based on my perceived difficulty of the material covered. Please note that anyone can read and learn from any of the lessons.
I have tried, as part of this Web site, to include recommended courses for individuals and families that may be helpful as they work to become more financially self-reliant. For example, one course I teach to incoming freshmen is titled “What I Wish I Had Known About Personal Finance as a Freshman.”
Another course is a recommended course for Single Parents and Young Married Couples. Other courses were developed for other specific individuals. For example, I have prepared a course that I hope to give to my daughter when she returns from her mission next year. I have specified this as a course for returned missionaries. I am working with others to put together additional courses for high-school students as well. Finally, some courses included are partial courses that take into account the material already presented, such as retirement planning and investing.
My final course, the Complete College Course, is very similar to what I teach at Brigham Young University in the Business School to undergraduate and graduate business students. It includes all the areas that I teach in my college course. Please note that the PowerPoint presentations, syllabus, and class schedules that I use in my classes are included in the Tools and Resources: Teacher Resources section of this web site.
Manuals for each of these courses are also included in the Tools and Resources: Personal Finance Manuals section of this website and may be freely downloaded for personal, family, or educational use.
If you have comments or suggestions to make these courses better, I would appreciate hearing from you.
